St. John’s Altar Guild is responsible for the timely changing of the paraments to reflect the liturgical or season of the church year.  They are also responsible to ensure that the paraments are cleaned and maintained. 

When are the different colors used?

Blue is used in observation of a new church year.

Green is used during the season of Epiphany and Pentecost.

Black is used for Good Friday and Ash Wednesday.

Purple is used during the season of Lent.

White is used the Sundays leading up to Easter and many other festive Sundays including Christmas and Holy Trinity Sunday.
